Artificial Grass Edging

If the exterior edging of the Artificial Grass is not installed and secured properly, the integrity of base materials and subgrade soils will erode allowing the edge of the synthetic turf to sink leaving a depression. This will also allow the exterior nails, spikes, or staples to come loose which can be costly to repair. Get to know your Artificial Grass Edging options with the selection of bender boards, pavers, or concrete borders.

Artificial Grass Edging

There are many choices when it comes to placing edging at the perimeter of your artificial turf project. The choices arrange from plastic, stone, wood, concrete, metal, pavers, and custom edging products like Polyboard and Wonder Edge. Whatever choice you make, the artificial grass must be installed at proper elevations to the edging to complete the beauty of the project. There is nothing worse than placing a quality turf and sabotaging its beauty by poorly constructed edging.

Wonder Edge

Wonder Edge for Artificial Grass is designed to make an artificial grass installation neater, eliminating extra labor while providing a beautiful, finished grade and durability to the entire project. It’s simple and easy to install; it simply sits down on the compacted sub-base. You don’t need bender boards, spikes, or screws.

Use your regular 6 or 8 inches nails or turf staples to secure the edger. You can make a rough cut and jam turf into the gap that collects all the excess turf presenting an excellent finished, smooth, clean edge. This edging is 8 Feet Long, 1 Inch in Height, and has a 2.5 Inch Base.

Bender Board and Stakes

Bender Board is a remarkable alternative to today’s lawn edging products and is quickly becoming the preferred product for landscape applications in both the home and commercial landscaping industries.

It is superior to other lawn edging products because of its durability and multiple uses. It looks like redwood but performs like plastic. Bender Board can be bent and curved to fit all your landscaping needs. If your garden needs a boost, perhaps it’s time to rethink your edges. Installing new edging is one of the easiest, fastest ways to improve the overall appearance of your garden.

Benefits of Polyboard

  • The look of redwood is an attractive feature for any project.
  • It lasts longer than other lawn edging products.
  • Waterproof. It won’t rot, split or crack.
  • Thicker and stronger than other lawn edging products.
  • Resists damage caused by weed-whackers and lawnmowers.
  • Environmentally friendly.
  • It can use it multiple times for forming concrete walkways and patios.
Stakes

Made of a hard composite plastic featured in a natural brown color, stakes anchor and hold the poly board together.

  • 1” x 2” x 12.”
  • Stakes are used to anchor the bender board into the ground.
  • 5 stakes to every bender board.

Pavers

It is also possible to use the edges of your paving to retain your sub-base material. This can be either a block or brick-paved edging, or you can use the edge of an existing patio. As long as it will retain the sub-base material, it can be used effectively as an edge restraint for your artificial lawn.

The main downside to using this form of edging is that you cannot secure the perimeter of your artificial grass directly to the edging itself. Your best option is to use galvanized U-pins to secure the edges of your artificial lawn.

Concrete Curbing

While this is a popular edging option that is very visually appealing, it is important that you are sure this is the way you want to go. Curbing is a very permanent option that will not allow you to easily redesign your lawn or landscape shape.

Steel Edging

The main advantage of steel edging over timber edging is the increased lifespan. Steel edging systems are also quick and easy to install and can be shaped to form curves, as necessary. The downside to steel edging, however, is the cost. Steel edging is normally somewhere around the same price as composite plastic, making it far more expensive than using timber.

An alternative method of securing the edges when using steel edging is to use galvanized U-pins, which can be placed around the perimeter of your lawn, preventing the edges from being lifted. This is generally the preferred method when using metal edging systems.
